If so, would you mind opening the bottom and giving me EXACT (as in, down to the millimeter) dimensions of the battery? I really want some eight-hour sweetness in my 15" pre-unibody, and was wondering if I should have enough room if I were to remove the current battery and the optical drive. Thank you guys!

The new ones get 8 hours not just because of higher capacity battery but more efficient components. And something tells me it won't just be a simple swap, they use completely new battery tech. Even if you manage to connect all the right pins, I'm not sure it will work...

Also you forgot about the software side, I remember one of the Apple guys said the battery will communicate with the computer and such to determine how much power to give and how the recharging going to be to allow it 1000 cycles.

I'm with the rest, it won't work

For the amount of money and effort involved in this, you're better off selling your 15" and buying the new generation.

You'd take a hit of a couple of hundred bucks but a project like this would probably cost you a couple of hundred bucks to begin with, not to mention consume a crap load of time and potentially void your warranty and break your equipment at the same time.

But if you are really adventurous, good luck and keep us posted, I am curious myself as to how/if it would work.

does anyone even sell the new battery yet?

I hope it works out for you, but unless I'm mistaken, wouldn't you end up having to buy a new computer in order to get the battery in the first place?

Im thinking, if op cant find specs and sizes w/o asking forum people, then he/she doesnt seem resourceful enough to do this anyway.

Yeah, I think I'll have to wait for ifixit to sell it. And as another poster said, it may make more sense to just get a new 15". My only problems are I cannot stand a glossy, I need expresscard, I don't like the new trackpad, and I do not want the heft of a 17" (and that wouldn't even solve my trackpad issues!)
