iPod Anyone got a new Shuffle?

Just took a closer look at them, seems you need to use the dock to sync as it has it's own type on connection. Would have to nice to be able to use a standard dock connection.

Love the small-form design, but the lack of a direct USB plug-in is a shame. The older Shuffle makes for a great memory stick, and it was useful that you could plug it in to any computer to charge.

With the new one you'd have to carry the dock arund with it.

I think it looks great. I've always been a fan of the simplicity of the Shuffle. Its size and shape really look like the iPod remote/FM tuner. I think it would be really cool Apple modified the Shuflle slightly so you could attach it to a full size iPod and have it work as a remote. Even better would be if you would have the ability to load the Shuffle from the iPod. Still even better would be if the Shuffle would also work as an FM tuner when attached. I know this is all pie-in-the-sky conjecture, but it sounds neat to me.

That explains why my store has all the new iPods (must be 30+ Nanos) and no new shuffles.

I ordered one a couple weeks back and the ship date says Oct. 31 with a delivary date of Nov. 7

I'm sure apple will ship them much sooner however.

I agree. I would love the new shuffle for the size, but there is nothing better than using my shuffle for both the gym and then a thumb drive while at work. Dual use for me.

It may just be wishful thinking on my part, but I think so, too.

They Apple store on 5th Ave said they'd have them in-store in the second week of October, so hopefully it'll ship around then.

About the lack of integrated USB port:

The new Shuffle is too thin to have a USB port. It's acutally thinner than the normal USB port itself! I bet griffin or someone will come out with a USB connector via the headphone connecter if you really need to have a direct USB connector.

Personally, I already have a USB drive, and I love the new Shuffle's dock.

It would have to be twice the size if it had a usb port which defeats the whole point of what apple are going for

Same ship date here, but an expected delivery date of Nov. 7th. Also I am in the US.

Man I hope they ship them much sooner than that.

the lack of usb pug-in is the reason i wont be upgrading from my 1g shuffle, its great to use once in a while when i need to transfer files from school to home and vice versa.
