I only get 1200mbs write in the Blackmagic ssd test. Dno why, isn't this very low?

256gb ssd, base model 15 2018

Well I thought it was supposed to be 2500 read and 2500 write, but maybe that was the 4TB drive?
[doublepost=1532465498][/doublepost]In the Ars review they state 2500mb each way: 2018-MacBook-Pro-Blackmagic-Disk-Speed.jpeg

Maybe thats only the 4TB drive...

Anyone with a 512gb tested yet?

The speeds Apple quotes are based on:

Testing conducted by Apple in June 2018 using pre-production 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5-based 13-inch MacBook Pro systems with 8GB of RAM and 1TB SSD, and pre-production 2.6GHz 6-core Intel Core i7-based 15-inch MacBook Pro systems with 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD. Tested with FIO 3.7, 1024KB request size, 150GB test file and IO depth=8. Performance tests are conducted using specific computer systems and reflect the approximate performance of MacBook Pro.

So 1TB. When you read all the fine print, you see that Apple tests various stats on different configurations, which is a bit misleading because it isn't actually possible to buy a machine that meets all the claimed performance levels (e.g. performance stats are based on 32GB RAM, 1TB storage models, whereas battery life stats are based on the standard spec models).

Yeah that’s the 1TB though, I think the 512gb might be slower.

512GB SSD in my 2.6GHz i7/16GB/560x machine. I love the read speed, the write speed leaves something to be desired since the 1TB SSD gets 2.6 GB/s. EDIT: Also on FileVault.

It's not unusual for bigger SSDs to be faster.
Actually it's the norm... :) Due to the way flash memory works, it's basically impossible to avoid that larger drives get faster.

Still, almost 1.67GB/s write is nothing to scoff at - although it's not a real-world performance test by any means (1MB buffer size is far outside the norm; most I/O is 4kb or even less), so it's more like a peak write speed rather than an expected speed.
