I'd really like to know how much faster a new 'standard' 8 core 2.8 mac pro is over the older 4 core 2.66 (which I've got) at processing raw files.
My work flow normally involves converting a couple of hundred raw files from a 5D camera, using either photshops Camera Raw or Capture One - and then doing one or two small adjustments on each in photoshop. I could justify an upgrade if the new mac pro gives me a significant improvement because my files are about to get a lot larger.
The only image processing stats I can find are of processing single large images that have already been loaded into photoshop. I know there are lots of other factors involved like disk speeds, memory etc but I'd really apprcieate it (and I'm sure others would find it useful) if someone has done some like for like comparisons and could share the results.
Thanks
