Just noticed cause i was under the sun, that my Xs (11 days old) has a dust speck in the bottom rear camera. Debating if I wanna take it back to bestbuy but might end up with something worse. I read up on the other thread with 19 pages and saw some folks that returned 5 iphones.

Is it worth returning? Anyone else with Xs that went through this? Debating if the dust get worse over time too.

You Don’t have to return your iPhone. You can simply take it to an Apple store And they can actually clean behind the camera lens cover forand return the same phone back to you. They have had this process offered for almost a year now.

I won’t worry about mine I’m on iup program and upgrading next year I don’t want to be affected with the warranty issue and not being tied to my account.

I had a Galaxy S7 before that had a dust speck right beside the lens (on the like sloping edge of the lens). Camera worked fine, did not ruin my pictures.

Take a few photos and check if you can see any dust, otherwise i dont think there is a problem.

It won’t be for long I use mine in my coat and dust still gets in

Alex, it’s a sealed device, Dust is _not_ getting in under the camera lens cover. I could see how dust could be lodged in the speaker hole grills or lightning port, but there is no way dust is making its way under your camera lens cover, unless your phone is not fully sealed somehow.

I don’t mind now since I’m on IUP program and doesn’t show in my photos it’s a tiny speck only one like you said before if it’s not affecting photos I will leave it alone I don’t want to risk one with worse issues.

Had it on my iPhone X last year, but it didn’t affect the quality of the photos. Fortunately, my Xs camera lens are dust free this time.

I received my iPhone XS Max on launch day. I never noticed that there was dust sealed in the back camera until the other day. I was taking a photo of a canvas print against a flat beige wall, and I saw a large spot in the upper left corner that moved as I moved the phone. I looked back at photos from October and found that same spot in photos with light backgrounds, so I'm sure it was sealed in at the factory.

I made a Genius Bar appointment, and they replaced the camera in less than an hour. They warned me that my screen protector may get cracked, but that didn't happen. I'm very glad it was easily fixed!
