I'd love to know how performance is with a single 27" 5k display as I'm eyeing the 27" 5k ultrafine if it becomes available at its discounted price. Apple's documentation suggests that the 13" rMBPtb can pair with a single 5k display or 2 4K displays.
I could drive a single 24" dell P2415Q 4k monitor @ 60hz no problem with my old laptop (2015 13" rMBP). I'd like to know if I can use the 2016 13" rMBPtb to drive the 5k monitor @ 60hz and still stream videos, have multiple tabs open, code editor, and OneNote -- all without experiencing slowdowns.
If performance is sluggish then I'll have to seriously consider swapping my 13" for a 15" with a discrete GPU. Portability was/is important to me so I went with the 13". My current work laptop is a 15" rMBP with an R9 370x at work. It's great, can drive 2x 27" 4k monitors at my workstation, but it's quite unwieldy otherwise. It's also always in clamshell mode (thus negating any benefit of touchbar).
My fingers are crossed that I can experience normal performance pairing my 13" rMBPtb with the 5k display. Appreciate any insight into performance.
