I was wonder what the image quality is like at the telephoto end of the zoom, especially since these cameras do not have optical image stabilization? Is the long end of the zoom simply not worth it in this situation?
I was looking at both the S9000/9500 which is a good value now (found under $400) but has 9 MP and apparently more noise than the new S6000fd/6500fd which is merely 6 MP but has cleaner pictures. Also the face detection, while a gimmick, is definately intriguing.
Are there other long zoom cameras that others would recommend, such as the Canon S3IS, G7 or the Panasonic FZ series? The reason I was looking at the Fujifilm is the superCCD technology and the lower noise at higher ISO.
Thanks!
