Looking for a new monitor for my M1 Mac Mini. I stumbled upon the 34WL500-B currently on sale at Best Buy for $279. It’s a 34” Ultrawide but it only has a resolution of 2560x1080. I saw it on display and from a 3’ distance it didn’t look bad. It was side by side with a 27” 4K and I honestly couldn’t see a difference. I want an Ultrawide but hesitant to spend an extra $1000 on the 5k2k version. My current display is the dell u2717d which is 2560x1440 Which is great but want more screen real estate. I mostly do eBay so it would be nice to have a couple browser windows open along with my photos all at the same time. Any advice? Any one have this budget 34” Ultrawide and like it? Do you notice the pixels much? Thanks

I had LG34WN650-W 2560x1080 for a short while, plugged into Mac Mini 2018. I used to sit approx. 3 feet from the screen and pixels were showing badly. On top of that since Catalina, font rendering/aliasing is very bad on non-Retina screens. The aspect ratio and horizontal screen space were great to me, I returned WN650 and bought LG34WK95-U (5K2K). I run it in Retina “looks like” 2560x1080p mode and the screen looks gorgeous, text is sharp and no pixels visible (still sitting 3 feet from screen).

Thanks. Yea I think I’ll pass on that budget monitor. I have a feeling I wouldn’t be happy with its low resolution. I’ll probably just pony up and get the 5k2k. I’m sure I’ll be happy with that. Thanks
