As title really… 10 month old M3 Pro MBP 14”. All has been fine and then began experiencing kernel panics while doing long UHD renders in Resolve and very occasionally whist doing really low streets operations like web browsing… Dianostics threw up no issues but it kept happening so brought it in to my Authorised Apple Reseller and they were able to replicate the kernel panic on the bench, ruling out software issue… complete reinstall didn’t fix issue and a new logic board is going in…

Anyone else heard of this type thing?

It happens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's why there's a warranty and AppleCare+. Which, depending on your country, you might be able to add after the service (not sure what the rules are currently on that).

excessive heat, liquid inside, mechanical problems of capacitators, everything can happen..

just got the bill for the logic board replacement… all taken care of by Apple, so nothing to pay… but if I had had to stump up it would have been slightly more expensive to buy a new laptop by a couple of 100 bucks…

Mine recently started going south (screen connector); not long before the end of 3-year AC+!

Note to others: prior to your 1-year Apple warranty or AC+ multi-year warranty expiring, check your display carefully in various colors with something like https://deadpixeltest.org/

I noticed an odd pattern in a sort of diagonal U shape on the display in 50% gray, white and red using the test above (and also with a totally white background).

Genius said display cable connection can have issues and this is one of the things that can occur.

They dropped a new logic board and I'm in the process of restoring my Carbon Copy Cloner backup.
