It came Friday and I was so excited to set it up I never turned it over to look at the back. Last night I found this mess. The finish is chipped around these plugs, too. WTH? It's aready packed up and ready to return. :mad:

That's just weird! Hard to tell from pics, but it doesn't look like chips, but more like some sort of issue with an applied coating. What a bummer....it has to be a fluke, and your replacement should be fine.
 
Did you try wetting that area slightly and then attempting to rub it off? Looks like what I had on my mini around the lightning port and it turned out to be some glue/residue that came right off with a little elbow grease

Dude im sorry. Just go to the apple store and get them to swap it out.

This. There was glue around my lightning as well
 
That's not happening to mine and its naked. Was worried about scuffgate, but the black is far sexier than the white mini
 
It looks like your Mini has a disease or something. Lol. That's not possible, but it looks gross.
 
I have a couple of small nicks in the back's finish at the top of the mini. Oddly, I also had an iphone screen protected stuck to the back of the mini over the apple logo.
