Hello,
just last week my new MBP 15" i7 2.3 GHz, 8 GB RAM arrived.
I am using my MBP very much "stationary" so attached to an external
display using the Apple Displayport to DVI adapter.

Every time I have to reboot the MBP (let's say after SW upgrade), the
MBP will boot, come to the blue screen and then the build-in display
(and also the external) stay dark and it looks like the MBP is in nirvana.

The only solution is to switch off the computer by pressing the
power on button. Sometimes this also happens during normal boot as well.

However, the external display is not attached everything (means every
boot or re-boot) works fine.

Anyone having the same experience ?

Thank you!

Don't have this issue. I would do a PRAM reset, if that doesn't work...get a replacement.

Mine's been booting lightning-fast with the SSD I installed -- no issues at all.
