Try this: Turn your ipod on... unlock it... then put it to sleep but pushing the button on top once and letting go. Now, right away put the bottom where the dock connects near your ear. Do you hear a noise or is it just my ipod? It's like a buzzing noise...

That is weird I swear I noticed this a couple days ago but can't recreate it right now but it is also really loud in my apartment right now. I have a 1st gen if it matters
It could be
where the speaker has played the unlock sound and turn off sound, and waiting if anything else is going to be played ...
i'll try it with sound turned right off...
makes no sound when the sound is off, so im putting my money on waiting for more sounds to play.
