My 16" i9 should be here very soon, but i need a lot of screen real estate. I had in mind two used 2009-up 27" iMacs in Target Display mode for external monitors (because you cant buy a new 2560/1440 27" monitor for near the price of a used 2000-up 27" iMac). But then i get to reading about 4K TV's. Did a search, and in one thread, there was a link to videos on why not to do this. Its an older video however, and the problems listed there have since been solved by the TV manufacturers. I've since done exhaustive research, and narrowed my search down to one 43" TV.
My main concerns are that the font be the same size as on my computer (i like small... more stuff on the page), and that the colors/resolution is as close to, or better than a typical 2009-2014 (non-5K) iMac's. Thats really all i need. I wont be gaming on this. Texts, and pictures... thats all i do. LOTS... of text and pictures...
Another concern is that I'm actually running this ancient 2010 iMac at about 30% brightness, so i'd like my TV to be capable of (comparably) at least 50%... which is brighter than i'll likely use.
So anyone here running a 4K TV as an external monitor for their MBP? Any concerns i should know about? Any tips on what to buy to make it work? Work better?
