Just curious as how reliable OWC 4gb RAM 2x2gb modules are for the macbook pro. I see it much cheaper than crucial and either ordering crucial or owc... usually I do with crucial.

OWC are a darned good company and their RAM is as reliable as anything else out there.

Go for it - you'll do just fine.

I have been using OWC RAM for years. Just bought (2 months ago) 2 x 2GB sticks from them for my 2.4 SR MacBook Pro real cheap. Everything works great!:D

The only time I had a problem is when one of the OWC sticks failed in my Mini. Just overnighted them the RAM, and in a few days I had a brand new one. No problem.

Highly recommended.

Don't do it, its toooooo cheap

:D

/end sarcasm

Get it, its just as good as the other brands

I am. Using the Samsung modules in a 17" 2.6GHz new MBP with no problems.

OWC rams are made by samsung?? I've ordered external hdd cases from owc and absolutely love them.. but I see that they are selling micron RAM for $132 and I know that crucial RAM are same as the micron and its $105 from crucial.com.. I think I'll go with crucial.

We offer our own OWC brand which is Major on 3rd (currently Elpida or Micron depending on the batch) + we also offer Micron original as well as Samsung original.

FWIW - buying Crucial doesn't mean you get Micron. You'd think it would, but it does not. Quality major always - but Factory original not necessarily nor even Micron always on the 3rd they contract builds to.

I upgraded my Penryn MBP to some OWC 4GB memory a couple weeks back, it has been flawless. Even sent in my old memory for the rebate. The ram has a lifetime warranty, so I am not concerned if there's an issue.

As stated by OWC, they have micron, samsung, and others. You can choose when ordering.

I've used crucial before with no problems. But I've seen several complaints here and on the Apple forums from people who have had problems with crucial ram on the Penryns. So I decided to use OWC this time and it worked fine.

FYI, OWC does ship much faster than crucial. It normally seems to take crucial a couple of days to ship an order after I place it. OWC shipped same day as I ordered.

Hmm.. its strange I've read on multiple forums about just the exact opposite about owc having problems but your right about the shipping (which I can wait dont need it asap).

I just installed 2x 2GB of Patriot memory last week in my MBP2.2. No troubles with it, and it was ~$84 shipped from newegg.

I just ordered 4gb from crucial and they actually shipped it same day. Too bad I should have ordered it yesterday.. =(

OWC RAM is the best you will find. I have the 2x2GB kit in my MBP, my dad has the same in his, I had their 2GB kit in my blackbook and had a few gigs from them in my MP when I had it. Good **** all around. I also have one of their external HDs, quality again is great.
