Anyone here use Voice Over?

I have a visual impairment and I used Jaws on my PC and now I'm trying to figure out Voice Over on the Mac. I've figured some things out on it but I can't seem to figure out how it reads the text in Safari and get it to navigate iChat because it isn't reading the word bubbles when my friends chat with me. It sometimes skips over paragraph's and doesn't read everything there.

Anyone here that has used this program and could help me out? or know if there is a Jaws for Mac? or even something similar
