Anyone here wish new iPhones released during summer?

I wish Apple would go back to summer releases with the iPhone just like the iPhone 4. It was nice having a phone upgrade during the summer months because of the improved camera capabilities. Anyone here feel the same way?

In a way it would be nice, but summers are always tight on families and people upgrading. I feel it happening in September times out perfectly for the holidays and is right after summer, leading into fall (which is probably when I take the most photos)!

I doubt we'll ever see another summer launch for a long time...

I remember standing for 3 hours outside in line during sweltering heat for the 3G, and it was miserable. After I'd been there a while, I decided to just wait it out. I now generally preorder for delivery, but I stood in line one other time for a fall release, and it was so much nicer. I get what you're saying, though, about having an improved camera for summer photos.

Are you saying there were only improved camera capabilities during summer releases? Or that because a new iPhone usually had an upgraded camera you could use it during the summer (because of a summer release)?

I'm confused because there have been plenty of September (fall) releases where Apple touted improved camera capabilities. Don't think that's exclusive to just being released during summer.

Call me crazy, but I would rather they not have a scheduled release at all
Just bring out a new phone when you have something truly new to offer (features or design)
Don't release something because a calendar says so, release something when the product warrants it

Exactly, so technically, Apple does release a new iPhone every summer.

Seems like they do that with their other products but the cell phone market is a different animal and drives Apple's profits.

It sounds like they enjoyed the summer release because they would get a phone with a newer camera in time for all the summer photos they take.

There's no better way to test a phone's camera than to go outside on a cool, fall day and take pictures of red, orange, brown and green foliage.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the 2017 iPhone is released earlier than the current September cycle.

Since it will the 10th anniversary phone, perhaps on or near June 17?
