Anyone keep all their old iPhones? Find it hard to let go of them?

Am I the only one that can’t seem to part with my old devices? I’m kinda of a collector/hoarder so I have kept all my past iPhones all the way back to the 3gs, boxes and all. I did give my iPhone 5 to my dad, but I have my 3gs, 4,4s,5s,6 and current 6s plus. Oh and I have all my old iPads too. Don’t get me wrong, the family uses some of them if they need too, and I still use my old iPad Air. I just hate selling and letting go.

The reason I bring this up is, I might not be able to afford the new 8 if it’s over a grand, but I could if I sell my old 6s plus, but I can’t see being able to do that, I love my 6s plus and want to keep it. Got to be the only person in the world that feels this way.:(

I have to break this crazy:confused: habit and sell my 6s plus, right?

Nope, generally hand-me-downs to others in the family for whom actually buying one outright would be questionable value, but for whom it's 'nice' they can enjoy one of mine once I've moved on from it.

Not really. I use them until they are no longer needed or supported. An iPhone is just a tool that doesn't hold any value to me.

We pass some on to extended family and some we keep, but I trade in ones I had problems with. My 5s battery had problems so we traded it in for an SE for my daughter. My IPhone 6 Plus was not the best and got traded in on AT&T Next for my 6S Plus, which I gave to my sister in law when I got the iPhone 7 Plus.

I traded in my iPhone 4 for a discount on the 5s and regretted it for ages but now I'm glad I don't have yet another device with an aging lithium ion battery around. From now on I will not hesitate to trade in old technology to be refurbished or recycled after seeing my dad's old iPhone 5s battery swell up. Eeks. Buh bye! Apple is well equipped to handle recycling so let them do it.

You're not the only one! I still have my iPod Shuffle 2nd gen, both my iPod Touch 4th Gen's, my iPad 4, iPhone 5, and so many more. My collection keeps growing as time goes on, but the worse part is that I'm getting stuff thats newer AND older than what I already have. I just got an iMac late 2006 two days ago (and typing on it right now). And its not like those devices are just sitting somewhere, I use them all throughout the day / week. Sometimes its nice to take a trip down memory lane and use those old devices.

My first iPhone was the 5c, I like my 6s with the battery case because it works for days, I'm still conflicted over my 7 plus because it's had horrible reception from day one but it's the jet black 256 GB and I paid a pretty penny.

Ultimately, I'll end up keeping them all. This year, my Note 3 is starting to act up a lot so it might be time for me to go back to Android. I'm looking at the Note 8 and S8. My birthday is next month so I'll have time to think on it.

I've still got my first Android, my Huawei Ascend. I've got a Xiaomi Mi4c I like too.

I usually give them away to friends or family members who need them when I upgrade. I just sent an old 5s to my niece in Florida. Her family fell on hard times and she just started high school and needed a newer and more reliable phone. I gave a 5 years ago to a buddy who went through a nasty divorce. I like seeing the old phones getting more use as opposed to them ending up in a landfill or just dumping them in a recycling bin. Just my thoughts.
