G'day all. :)

I have suspicions that a particular person has blocked me...and I am hoping one of you guys will be able to point me to some sort of plug-in or program that will allow me to see who has me blocked on their contact list.

Otherwise, what other plan should I devise to find out if they have blocked me...? :p

Thanks in advance.

somehow- be sure to involve mission impossible theme song.

well if you think they blocked just you, why not sign on under a second screen name and look for them online? if they're on under one name, but not the other, you have your answer......

That's I was thinking too. If your at this point, the girl has got you going crazy. But all girls do that, so I don't blame you. :D

Lol, so far Abstract and SamIchi are pretty close to the mark...:p

I will check out amsn, Thanks FistfulofAngst!:)

^^Actually, I was thinking he was checking on whether an ex-girlfriend was blocking him. Now, I think it may be a girl he likes, but one who may not like him as much, and he just wants to see if she has decided to block him to show her disinterest. :p

Funny how this thread turned out lol. I had a feeling... :p

To avoid further speculation, I will just say that the girl is just a good friend (ie. not in a relationship) I met on the net, and I am just curious as to wether she actually really 'leaves' when she says she is leaving...

Anyway, despite its irrelevance to the thread topic, there you go. :p

Also, I still cant find the function in aMSN, but Im not bothered with it anymore...If the desire to identify people who have me blocked ever comes again, I will probably use JelloShotsRule's recommendation.

Thanks again for the help and discussion guys. :)

in AIM (i'm not sure about the other, but it seems like you might have msn), there is a privacy filter called "block everyone not on my buddy list." If you sign on a different screen name, and they have that privacy filter enabled, it won't do you any good.

Ah, thanks for the tip. I suppose finding out if someone has blocked you can prove to be a lot more difficult than what I thought. Ah well.. :)

I know that it's possible with AIM for Windows. A friend of mine has done it. But I have no idea how to do it, if it's possible, on a Mac.

I don't use other messaging services, so I wouldn't know about MSN et al.

There's no need to enable it, if you're blocked it'll show this icon Picture 2.png beside their user title.

Is this they-blocked-you, or you-blocked-them? Out of curiosity? *le sigh* I guess I have volatile friendships. I have some people on block and at least one or two who blocked me. More of a nuisance is a large number of my friends who only use MSN on invisible mode.

*deleted useless information*

It's "they-blocked-you".

Ah thanks. I did notice a couple of those, but the person I am 'investigating' doesn't have me blocked, so its all good. :)

But I have a query. When you 'mouse over' the contact that has that symbol ( View attachment 51132 ) next to it, it says that you are not on their contact list. Is it possible that this is different to being 'blocked'?

I know, how annoying is it! I must admit though that I have used the function before, and it can be handy just to see who is on if you are wanting to speak to one person.

You know I didn't put much thought into it now that you mention it.

I think it works as such: If you can still see when their status shows them as "online" you've been removed but not blocked. If you cannot they either no longer sign in or you've been both blocked and removed.

make sense?

Yeah sounds about right, there would be a way of seeing. That probably works. :)
