I will be pre-ordering an LTE enabled iPad mini tomorrow night. I decided to go with the LTE enabled device as I recently switched over from the AT&T ulimited data plan to their new data sharing plan, which I believe allows you to share your data up to 10 devices.

I thought it would be a real simple issue, but the more I have read online (bits and pieces here and there), I have seen things like $36 activation fees, an additional $10/month billing to add a device such as an iPad. Is all that true?

I didn't mind shelling out an extra $130 for the LTE connectivity, assuming it would work flawlessly with my existing data plan. However, if it's going to cost me more on the data side to share, I'm almost thinking it would be a better idea to utilize my iPhone 5's mobile hotspot feature.

The two advantages I like about having the LTE built in is that you get GPS, and you don't have to suck up all the juice from your iPhone to power up the mobile hotspot.

Does anyone have any direct experience they can share here? I can't imagine I'm the only one in the dark a little bit about these new data sharing plans now that we are getting ready to have to decide on the new mini and 4th gen iPad models.
