Heck my Motorola L2 has it.

I'd like it to be truly silent (not just Vibrate) at times.

I considered that but prefer the third option really.

Oh well, I'll try it out on the 24th again and see :)

You don't understand. When you go into sounds, there is an option for Vibrate on Silent. Turn this off. Then when the flip is switched silent, nothing vibrtaes or makes sounds.

Read it again ;)

hint: it's a two position switch

Read what again? He told you what you were looking for. You can turn vibrate off for when the phone is on silent. That makes the silent switch a "truly silent" switch. No sounds, no vibrations, no coffee maker, nada. Nothing. Zip. Zero. Just a phone not telling you that you having a phone call.

A one position button would be nice. With the L2 you tap one side button to switch thru the modes. Quick and clean.

does that mean you have to light the screen up each time to see if its in silent or not if you're not sure? cos a 2 position switch is easy, can tell if you deffo have it on silent just be feeling...

and once you change it in the settings that once, when you switch it to silent by the 2 position switch, its always silent.... you don't have to do it each time! lol

Unless I want it to vibrate again.

Exactly. You can turn it on silent even while its in your pocket. You don't have to take it out and worry that it isn't on silent. Then, you would have to take your phone out of your pocket (in a place you shouldn't be using it) to turn it on silent.

Three modes without having to go into Settings:

Ring
Vibrate
Silent

How freaking dense can people be?

Quite a bit apparently

edit: is Ryan the only one who thinks before posting?

If you don't want to receive calls, then just put your phone in airplane mode. That will definitely put your phone to sleep.

no. i want to know which mode my phone is in which is why a 2 position is better. again if you really need this leave your phone in the settings screen and flip it there.
