I always name any tech if it has an option, from my TV to my iPad. If it's on the network it has a proper name. Does anyone know if you Can name the watch? I don't want ours called "Steve's watch" and "La's watch" but will need time to research a good names on baby name sites. I like to choose a name for my devices with a relevant meaning to what that device is.

Glad I'm not the only one that does this... :)

As a matter of fact... for funsies, I always pick different languages for the names as well. For example, the gold iPad Air 2 I'm using right now "rose from the ashes" of its damaged predecessor, so it is: 金凤凰. (Golden Phoenix).
My iPhone 6 is Напівкровний Принц (Halfblood Prince), the title of the 6th Harry Potter book.

Lol, it's kinda fun...
I'll probably research & see if there was a "God of time" in any culture... If so, I'll call it that.

That's a good question. If not already, I expect that iTunes will be updated to allow syncing and back ups for the watch and therefore there should be a option to give the watch a name

I hope so! All my devices get names like people so I know what they are on my network even though I only call them 'iPad' or 'iPhone' when I refer to them. Each gen starts with the next letter of the alphabet. Since this is the 2nd generation I'm doing this on, each device starts with 'B'.

Only my mobile devices follow this scheme. My desktops get powerful names to match their powerful powerness. ;) Time to start looking for a name!

I'm glad I wasn't mocked for this thread.
The point about iTunes is a good one, so I guess it will have a name. I'll have to find a time related name... Off to the baby sites I go.

Given you can name all the other devices, I'm sure this will be a feature

You might be after Chronos...

Nice... I would have guessed Fawkes.

The :apple:Watch won't mount or be seen by iTunes. It will be paired/unpaired in the iPhone's Companion App. Here is the only place you will see it and name it if allowed.

So if thats the case then Watch specific apps be will be backed up and updated via the iphone?

All :apple:Watch native apps (Apple only for now) have a corresponding iPhone App. So even when 3ed party Apps are allowed to be native they in all likelihood would still have to have a corresponding iPhone App installed to work.
