Anyone know off hand how much mb the iphone 4 uses for a minute of 720p video?

I've been looking at this too.

I found somewhere on the net that 12 mins of HD would be about a gig

1024/12 = 85.33mb/min

So I'd say what you've found is about right.

from what i've read people are experiencing around 70mb/minute maybe a tad more

it translates to around 4.2gb/hour
