Anyone know what hdd the 2.5ghz (penryn) hi res matte mbp stock is using??

Just curious, I know its a 250gb 5400rpm hdd and just curious and wanting to know what company is it? Seagate, WD, Fujitsu??

All the 250GBs I've checked the past couple weeks have been Hitachis. In fact I've only seen Hitachis in all the models I've checked. I've seen a few people mention Fujitsu too though.

Wow really hitachi? Thats a pretty good hdd they put inside the mbp stock.. I have a hitachi travelstar 7k200 that I will replace that stock 250gb with..

Yeah there was a Hitachi 250GB in the 15" I had briefly. I checked tomshardware's 2.5" comparison charts and it benched pretty well. It came close to the 7k200 in some tests, not so close in others.

The cool part is that I get to use the 250 hitachi drive as an external hdd =D

Yeah if I had a 7k200 laying around I might have just BTO a 17" to save some money, but it was just too convenient to take one home from the apple store Saturday. Machine is so fast I am seriously considering just dumping my quad 2.66 Mac Pro tower.

Hehe sounds great! I'm actually going to use the 17" as my main machine for a few days to see if I want to sell my mac pro (I know that in speed wise the mac pro will still spank the mbp.. but going to try out the usual stuff that I do and see how it goes, I'm definitely putting the 15" sr mbp up on ebay tomarrow though...
