The "official" hours for Tyson's Corner is opening at 10am, just like the Apple store, but I know most malls open early for walkers or for whatever reason. So far, I've had one person tell me it opened up at 7am and another tell me 6am.

Anyone have any idea? I couldn't find the information online like some of the other malls (Fair Oaks mall is 6:30am). Also if you know some opening times for other malls in the Nova/MD area you can post that here too. Thanks.

I figure I'd much rather wait a few hours and know how long I was going to wait and that I'd definitely get a phone.

Uhhh use your phone and get this!! CALL THE MALL, yes i know its a far fetched thing but sometimes it just works that simple. I'm sure the person that answers will be able to give you that information.
I mean really google the mall (which it seems you've done) get the mall phone # and call it. They may even have a chessy IVR system that lets you get mall hours.

Yes yes... you are very clever... except I've already done all those things. The "official" mall hours are posted everywhere as 10am, but I know that's not true.

Now, tell me this would not confuse you: I called the Apple store and I asked them when the mall opened he replied "ummm I think 6am".

I thought, "well that seems kind of vague.. what if I get there 2 hours too early and have to sit in my car?".

So, I CALLED the mall guest services and got some wierd guy answering. I asked him when they open their doors, he immediately puts me on hold without saying anything. Then 5 minutes later same guy picks up "yeah hello... uh it opens at 7am".

He didn't seem sure at all either. What I was hoping for was someone that actually had been there or know first hand when the mall opened. Not so much looking for the sarcastic response assuming I hadn't already done the obvious solutions...

The mall building itself opens around 6a. There are walkers and restaurant workers (McDonalds, for one) that need access. I waited in the line Saturday morning and got to the mall around 6:30a. Park in the deck next to Macy's and use the mall entrance in between Macy's and Bloomingdales on the West side (next to the parking structure). That will take you almost directly to the Apple store. Security is used to the line standers by now. Either a) bring a chair to sit or b) be prepared to stand. They won't let you sit on the floor.

FearlessFreep, thanks you are awesome! That couldn't be more helpful unless you offered to go to the store for me and wait... ;). Were there many people when you got there at 630? And I'm assuming they are cool with people bringing in a fold out/camping chair into the mall? Thanks again for the response you may have saved me alot of time/confusion.

Folding chairs are fine (at least they were last weekend). Lots of people had them.

There were roughly 15 people there at 6:30a, of course this was Launch Day +1, so I would doubt there'd be that many.

I would get there early. Wednesday morning the line was 100+ people by 10am when I got there. It was all the way from the Apple Store to the entrance by Chipotle.

Just a little update on how my plans worked this morning.

First of all, the mall opens up at 5am... that piece of information is so hard to find! I think it may be totally unofficial or up to the discretion of mall security or something. Got there at 6am this morning and I was 13th in line. Apple guy came out a little while later, counted off the number of people and line and how many phones each person was getting and cut off the line around 25 people. Of course people still waited in line in hopes that more would come in.

They started processing people early, around 9:20am or so, and I got in just before 10 and out by 10:20.

Also, forgot to mention, line was at least 100 people long by the time I left.
