Hi,

Im another person seeing a huge amount of used "other" space. my free space has dropped from 40gb to 600mb overnight and i suspect its something to do with Time Machine. Ive switched it off but I think the backup is still there. The problem is ... where is it! i can't seem to see it anywhere..

/Volumes/Mobile Backups

Disable with sudo tmutil disablelocal if needed. It takes a little time to restore disk space if you disable it.

I don't see local snapshots at all. Can this be because that Time Machine disk also was used to backup Snow Leopard and has Snow leopard backups too?

Scratch that. It was disabled for some reason.
