Either, or for that matter, just wondering, these were mass produced in great numbers, some would suggest around 15,000 various 68k and 603e upgrade cards were sold over the years.

I'm wondering where someone might be able to source a full scale CPU for one of these machines to replace the LC chip, or alternatively where you might be able to find a PPC upgrade card for one.

The reason I ask is that Linux is far more fully supported using a 68040 processor than an LC processor. For instance you can run a modern version of Linux with a 2.6 kernel relatively easily once you have a full scale processor.

Don't ask me why, but I am planning on using one of these machines for a challenge, and I want to set it up with modern software. Given the propensity for embeded Linux devices to run 68k processors it shouldn't be too difficult.

If a Coldfire Micro controller running a 68k processor can boot and run Linux I don't see why a Mac shouldn't be able to.
