i have a ibook g4 1.2 and the battery life is crappy
so i looked at the iBook G4 and PowerBook G4 Battery Exchange Program
and is says:
This computer serial number is not eligible for the Battery Exchange Program.

This battery qualifies for the Battery Exchange Program.

is it just me or does that not make sense?
if the battery is valid for a exchange for a battery issue why not the computer it came with?

thanks

Why would you expect them to replace an entire computer when the problem is only with the battery?

IIRC, apple automatically replaced certain batteries associated with certain serial numbers known to have bad batteries (ie, all from the same batch). In addition, there were other batteries out there that were faulty but sporadically placed (ie, no consecutive / known serials, etc) that are also eligible if they meet certain criteria. Ergo, the battery is eligible because it was produced during a specific time if it meets the criteria, but will not automatically be replaced due to serial number. I believe qualification is <300 cycles and <20% battery capacity, but you'd have to look it up.
