There are some guides online but they all show the following command from Terminal:

sudo nvram BootAudio=%01

This doesn't seem to work.

I kinda miss my startup chime :p

Those are the two commands to toggle it;

Boot chime control:

sudo nvram BootAudio=%00
sudo nvram BootAudio=%01

Doesn't work for me either. Wish I could re-enable the chime. It was handy when I needed to boot into Windows under bootcamp.

Simplifying things for the "pros" is the new Apple's motto.

the joke is getting old, specially when used in context like this where you are just forcing it

The more time you've used the Late 2016 MacBook Pro, the more missing components and features you would find.

People have mentioned the missing power extension cord, but did you know the two collapsible tabs which allow the cord to be wrapped around the power adapter are also gone? How about the the black microfiber cloth that comes in the box for you to clean the nice display? That is missing as well.

They spent a lot of time talking about reducing the physical volume of these laptops. Guess what? That also reduces the volume of the packaging and ultimately reducing shipping costs.

My point is Apple's greed rears its ugly head in this new MacBook Pro.

Yes I knew all of that, and it sucked I had to order the extension cord separately, but that still does not make this joke any bit more funny

Let us know whether you find the joke funny once you receive your Late 2016 MacBook Pro and use it for a while.

OMG A COMPANY TRYING TO MAKE MONEY!

I'm actually glad they got rid of both the light-up apple logo as well as the chime. I prefer discretion when I use my computer.

are there any repercussions to adding it back?

just curious, I don't own a 2016 but wondering if it has any caveats from changing the line of code,

I would suspect not, but you never know

Wouldn't people know you are working because they can see the light of the display more than the small logo? About sound, yes, sometimes, in the dead of the night, it is annoying.

And how will those pros ever live without that cleaning cloth?

Sucks about the tabs (it really does) but man are you complaining about the most trivial BS.

I still wont, since I know what I am getting into, I knew it when I ordered. I know it now, and that wont change when i get the laptop
You FOOL! Buying a laptop that doesn't include a piece of cloth, what a sucker.

I seriously dont get why people are so upset about the glowing logo
Its like people want the " HEY LOOK AT ME, I AM RICH AND HAVE AN APPLE PRODUCT " attention.
Its a freaking glowing logo, that had no proper purpose, and its now gone because its not possible to fit it in the slimmed down screen.
Why make a fuss out of it

Thing is, people have come to love the small "trivial BS" as you call it, from Apple. And these small touches went that extra mile for a lot of them.

Maybe a "pro" should care more about what he uses the computer for, no? The trivial stuff is for posers.

You don't get why people are upset about a lot of things. I'm not sure why they had to get rid of it, since it wasn't an aditional light but was always powered by the screen light so why would the thinnes effect that?

As far as the purpose, its aesthetic. You're really surprised Apple customers care about aesthetics? Lots of decals lose their purpose when they can't light up. Did it stop me from ordering? No but it is an annoyance.
