I bought a Space Black Stainless Steel 40mm from Best Buy for $380 back in February. I thought it was a great deal and I definitely love the Space Black over Graphite.

HOWEVER, S5 did not have WiFi 6 and it was just as slow as S3 to sync my music. Has anyone noticed a big difference in music syncing time with the S7 compared to previous models?

Edit: S6 was still WiFi 5 but 5Ghz was added. Previous versions only had 2.4Ghz.

Yes I have. I came from the s5. I received my s7 last Friday and my music still hasn’t all downloaded to my watch. I made sure that my watch and phone was on the charger and connected to Wifi.

So, no change? Still slow to sync?

doesnt it sync via bluetooth from your phone and not wifi?

It uses both: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204562

In the past, people had suggested that I turn off Bluetooth to force WiFi only but that didn't work.

I think Andrew O'Hara had a video where he briefly mentioned that the 5Ghz in S6 was added because people complained about syncing speeds in the older models. This is why I asked about WiFi 6 on the S7 - to confirm whether it was even faster than S6.

Syncing between the iPhone and Apple Watch has always been terrible, and it’s been terrible for so long I’m certain it must be intentional. Perhaps the S-series SoCs aren’t capable of performing certain tasks all at once for power/performance/heat reasons? Perhaps when a watch is connected to power there is a certain list of tasks it performs sequentially, and media syncing is last on that list? If it’s not intentional the only other explanation is extremely poor software.

it’s enormously disappointing that, 7 years later, this hasn’t been improved.
