Anyone order the new MDP to HDMI with audio?

Just curious if anyone has ordered or received the new Mini Displayport to HDMI with Sound adapter from Monoprice yet. Seems a little pricey at $37. I'll probably wait for it to go down. If anyone tries it, let us know how it works!

I don't think $37 is unreasonable considering others are selling at $60+. But I too am curious to see if anyone has ordered and tested it.

Definitely ordering this. Also, you can search anywhere but monoprice.com is always the cheapest place for cables

Yeah I actually just got the mini displayport to HDMI from newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_- It is $19.99. I love it. Works perfectly fine on my 42" 1080p HDTV.

Oh wait. Mine doesn't have the sound adapter though. I just plug in my Harmon Kardon sound sticks 2 to the MacBook Pro through the headphone port and works fine for me.

I want to get this, but Macbook Pro can't pass Digital Audio right? Monoprice says that the item supports Digital but Pro can't output it right?

The audio out in the MacBook Pro is also a mini optical port so it can support digital audio

Exactly. All current MBP's feature an "Apple MiniJack" so they have digital input and output capabilities.

but this cable gets sound from the usb port, so the optical out doesnt mean a whole lot in this case..

The adapter in question pulls audio from a USB port. (ie. it also has a builtin USB audio device that it combines with the display information coming out of the MDP)

Will do! I'll be hooking this up to my HDTV, but I don't have 7.1 or even 5.1: just the two speakers built into my HDTV. But I will certainly review that aspect for you all!
