Considering getting the M2 Pro. Anyone running an OLED monitor/display/TV via the M2 Pro 2.1 HDMI port? Would like to know how it is working, if there are any problems, errors, or compatibility issues with either the HDMI port or with Ventura (like what happened with quite a few people on their M1 Studios using USB-C / Thunderbolt displays).

I think this is the first time Apple's released a desktop that can drive a monitor above 60hz. Most OLED monitors/TVs are capable of at least 120hz, and usually higher -- along with OLED's amazingly fast pixel response times of ~ 0.1 ms. Also looking at Dell's IPS Black monitors, pretty cool tech, but really want OLED.

I'd need it to work, and I don't want any janky workarounds using converters or dongles because of some compatibility issue (like people had with external monitors on M1's running Ventura via USB-C/Thunderbolt). Need to plug the OLED's HDMI cable into the M2 Pro's HDMI port and simply have it work.

I have a m2 mbp and hdmi 2.1 works well with my lg C2. Need to use game mode for no mouse lag.

I use mine with a LG C2 42", it's flawless and looks incredible. Zero issues.

It actually makes me realise just how poor the panel is in the 14" MBP 2023, the response time is so slow in comparison.

Thank you very much. I’m getting it. M2 mac mini pro and the LG C2 42. So looking forward to it.

I have that very setup and love it. I also saved a lot of money even with the 5yr Best Buy warranty on burn in it was 500 cheaper and a lot bigger beautiful OLED display. I would recommend runny it at 2650X1440 and it does a 5K upscale in that setting that makes everything sharper. The only downside is you can only do HDR at 100hz or less in that scaled mode but still great.

Great. Had been considering building a PC for this, but I think the mac mini pro is the right machine at an attractive price.

How do you enable the 5k upscale? Is that a mini setting, or an LG C2 setting?

It’s on the Mac mini end under display. When I go into Mac system report it shows the resolution is at 5120 X 2880 5K/UHD+ - Ultra High Definition Plus which is fake 5K but looks great and icons are not small.

Just got myself a LG C2 42''. What a treat.

Just make sure to set both menu bar and dock to hide automatically and background wallpaper to change at least every hour so the TV doesn't gets burn-in.

Update: make sure your you get a brand 48Gbps cable.
The Amazon basic 48Gbps 8K/60Hz cable does a very good job

OK thank you for this tip as well.

And I have a suggestion for you as well. Instant dock hiding/appearing. This eliminates that animation and delay when you run with a hidden dock. Link. I do this religiously on all desktops and laptops.

I have the Mini M2 Pro and LG C2 connected via HDMI 2.1, but can’t get Tv to flip to Dolby Vision when watching Dolby Vision content. Mini is set to 4k with HDR on. Apple TV+ app and Movie is Top Gun Maverick. Shows Dolby Vision next to title. When I play it’s just standard HDR. Any ideas?

Most of the issues are because of cable. So make sure your you get a brand 48Gbps cable.

So I bought the Amazon cable you recommended and directly connected from Pro M2 Mini to LG C2 and still only getting HDR and not Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision does not pop up in the upper right corner and when I pull up the settings it still is just standard HDR. I was on with Apple Support for 45 min last night and they couldn't figure it out either. I can't find anywhere with Google that Dolby Vision works outside of the MacBook Pro's and the XDR display. It's driving me bonkers =). Would love to know that someone actually see's they have Dolby vision with the LG C2 using Mac Apps.

The cable description does not say that it is certified. To avoid problems it is always best to get a certified cable.
