Hi

i usually upgrade my iPhone every year. Sometimes twice if I switch sizes. I am beginning to question t financial wisdom of this, even though I can well afford it. It feels like perpetual payment

I currently have the iPhone 11 Pro Max and love it. I am on a two year payment option with Citizen. I could also pay off the loan early.

is the 11 Pro Max the type of phone that You could easily keep for two years? Are any of you planning to keep your 11 pro Max for at least two years?

Thanks

Well I'm on a 8+ I got last year, but my last two phones I had for about three years apiece. There's no rule that says you should upgrade once or twice a year. What would possibly happen one year from now that would cause your current phone to no longer work (barring it physically breaking)?

Next year's phone should be a major upgrade, but some people like to wait it out because the first release of a new design can have more flaws. I know I probably won't resist upgrading anyway, but it can make sense to wait.

I am not even concerned about 5G. My office suffers from major building penetration issues. LTE is marginal, at best, where my office is, so I expect 5G to be WORSE!

My first iPhone was the 5s. Second was the 7 Plus, and not I have the Pro Max. So yes, I plan on keeping mine more than a year.

And I'm under no obligation as all my devices are paid in full when I buy them.

If you are on IUP. please do not respond to this thread. I am only interested in those not on IUP.

Thanks

Not on IUP, upgrade every year. I buy the new phone outright and sell my previous phone on Swappa. I enjoy iPhones, pay cash as money is not an issue, and don't really care if the previous phone is considered 'good enough' by most. It is what I do.

If the rumours are true and the 2020 model is a major re-design (notchless, 5G, squared off edges), I wonder if the resale value of notched iPhones (X and 11 series) might drop significantly.

I keep my phones for two years. If you upgrade every year I don’t think you see any real differences. I have an 11 Pro non-Max, and I’ll be keeping it until 2021.

Brought an X just under 2 years ago

Now upgraded to the 11 Pro

I may upgrade again next year, depends on what form factors they go with, whats new and the price

Didn’t upgrade from X to XS as didn’t feel it was worth it

I have a bad habit of upgrading every year and saying I will not next year. I normally upgrade and cycle my old one with my wife. With that said I have never spent over 950 for a phone until this year and when bought I got the 512 gb with plans of keeping this one a few years

If I had access to iUP, I would upgrade yearly. It would defeat the purpose if I didn’t.

However, there’s no iUP in the region where I am. So I’ve been on my launch 6s. If I spent $1100 for a phone like the 11 Pro Max, I would’ve kept it for at least 5 years.

Every year, I plan to keep the new phone for more than one year.

And then I buy the new one, every year.
