i recently had my 17 inch macbook pro logic board because genius said it had muptile problems and the graphics problems also they replaced optical drive as well

he said it was replaced with an updated logic board and newer graphics chip model

my model number a1229
part number ma897ll/a
it was bought in dec 07

is there a program to help me find if my cpu is memron or santa rosa
or if they used updated comments so it maybe wont happen again

any help greatly appericated
 
About This Mac

I might be able to tell you if you do the following:

Click the Apple () Menu button top-left and select 'About This Mac'.
Then click 'More Info...' at the bottom. In System Profiler click 'File', 'Save As...' and save the profile as a plain-text document.

Then paste the sections under 'Hardware' and 'Graphics/Displays' (quite a bit further down the page) in a reply. It should then be clear which parts you've got inside.

It does seem unlikely that they'd change the internals to better parts. It's against Apple's replacement policy, I believe.
