Hi,

Has anyone purchased a mac from Stormfront in the UK - They are a 'premium reseller' with quite a few stores around. My parents went in on the 20th to order a Macbook Air, and wanted the i5/8GB/256GB model - not stocked so needed to be ordered. This model is currently 24hrs shipping from Apple (they prefer bricks and mortar stores go figure!) but were told it would be 'about a week'. Is it me or does this sound excessive for a stocked model, or do resellers get put to back of the queue?

They also said they'd forward the order confirmation from Apple, but they haven't had anything as yet. Bit annoying as they could have had it today if they'd done as I suggested and gone to the Apple store.

Has anyone else used them, for a BTO model and what sort of timescale was it? It was the Romford store if that helps

I do wonder as they were also told it would be heavier as they were upgrading it... funny I'm sure a 256GB SSD isn't that much heavier than a 128GB lol...

I've never bought anything from Stormfront, but have had a few Macs fixed through them. They've always been OK and always seemed to me to be a regular reseller.

I can't imagine that they are up to any shenanigans. Resellers have their own hoops they have to jump through, and Apple keeps pretty tight control of all this.

I can only suggest your parents contact Stormfront re the order confirmation. If Stormfront haven't placed the order yet or have unsatisfactory excuses, cancel the order and go to the nearest Apple store (Bluewater?).

Thanks, I was wondering mainly if resellers get the same lead times as the public buying direct, sounds like they don't?

I'm sure they're fine, not expecting any issues... personally always buy my Apple stuff from the source, but at least they're an official reseller.

Will get them to call today and see what the deal is.

Yeah, I'll admit it's only when I googled them I realised there's another organisation by that name! Why on earth didn't they check before naming their business???

It really doesn't help that the interior décor is almost entirely white. I do wonder about the owners. :D

As an update still no email. Had a phone message late Saturday to say the email was bouncing though the correct address is on the invoice. Went into store Sunday and the "manager" who processed the order wasn't in, and although the assistant left a message basically said he had no access to order details as they were on the managers email... And why were we even asking as it had only been 4 days. Actually quite rude, we were only asking for the info they had said they would supply.

No contact from the manager today, actually pretty miffed we didn't just go into Apple, who have the same system in stock. (Still showing as 24hr online too )

Not saying all Stormfront stores are crap, but i def won't go back to the one in Romford!

The saga continues.

Eventually get a confirmation from store yesterday showing order only placed on Monday, 5 days after they took the full amount from the bank (and now due on the 5th a week later than quoted). On querying what they were trying to send on Saturday (oops) I receive an email straight from their retail director at their head office.

I'll give them that he, finally, admitted they'd screwed up, and offered an Apple TV as some compensation for lack of communication and delay.

So now another week to wait :(

Short story... I wouldn't go back to them.

One of the perks from my company is interest free apple products every year, they use Stormfront so can confirm that they are a real reseller.

I ordered a thunderbolt screen, MacBook Air, Mac mini and a iPad mini. They took forever to deliver, but hey, I'm not paying.

They really didn't seem to know anything until the order was shipping from apple.

They also just seem to order from apples website, seems a bit pointless using them tbh
