I’m getting frequent kernel panics.
I have a G5 dual 1.8, 1.5Gb RAM. The HD’s are large and have plenty of space.
From looking at previous panic logs the kernel panics appear to be associated with the GeForce FX 5200. This card was supplied by Apple with the G5. It is connected to a 22” Apple Cinema Display.
So I re-seated the card. But I still got the kernel panics.
Incidentally occasionally even when I restart, the Mac goes immediately into a kernel panic and does so again when I restart again. BUT if I restart from a Tiger Install DVD then there is no problem.
So it seems that the cause of the kernel panics is NOT the video card. The cause seems to be elsewhere, possibly a software issue.
So I took a new HD, zeroed it, put on 10.4.10. The only other application on it is Microsoft Office 2004.
But I still get frequent kernel panics even when I start-up from that HD.
By looking at the panic log can anyone determine EXACTLY what is causing the kernel panics?
