Am looking to get a used iphone 5s off ebay. There are some power sellers on eBay selling refurbed grade B/C phones within my price range. However the housing tends to have some dints/scratches on it.

I have seen screens and back casing selling for about £35.

Is it easy enough to change the this over ?
Is it time consuming ?
Are they reliable casing ?

i have seen seen instructions and Youtube videos but its not a simple matter of just popping off the case and screwing in a new one.

Easy enough to do as I've done a few but it's not often decent quality.

Would you say they're totally crap at that price or are there better ones ?

The screens will probably be washed out, and the cases may be an inferior material/painted quite badly.

Changing the case isn't *hard*, but it's very *fiddly*. It's a rebuild, so you'd need to take everything out of the case, and put it back into the new one in reverse order.

Am prepared to do the work but if the cases are crap then i might be better off spending abit more on a better condition phone.

If you going to do it for the first time don't do it. Too many parts that can get damaged during the process and those hard steps are omitted in YouTube videos to make it look easy.

Mid frame is usually good but aftermarket lcds are mostly inferior to original lcd some with dead pixels washed colors and blueish whites

There are alot of power sellers on eBay selling quite a few iphones. Do these tend to be secondhand phones they've bought and replaced housing themselves ? it comes with 6 months warranty and in a plain box.

Anyone ever bought one of these refurb units off eBay ?
