So I am ready to pull the trigger on what will be the last non-retina 13" and want to do exactly what I am now with my 2009 13", two SSD's via an optical enclosure conversion. I am currently on a 160GB Intel XM-25 for boot / apps and a 240GB 335 series Intel for storage, totally flawless.
My goal is to get a maxed out 2012 13" Macbook Pro with the 2.9 i7, instal 3rd party 16GB ram and put the 240 Intel in the boot slot, hope to put 480-512GB in the optical slot. I have read several issues of lockups with SATA-III SSD's in the optical slot, have no interest in a spinner for durability and speed reasons.
I want this to be my last laptop as I feel the entire realm of mobile computing will look immensely different in about 4-5 year's time and that would be my next move...
Has anyone done two SATA-III SSD's in the current model 13" Macbook Pro and if so, what drive brands and capacities worked in the optical slot?
