So, ever since Ableton Live 10 was released, I've been having problems running it on my 2016 MBP. The issue which even the devs have acknowledged and is being worked on in beta (no success yet) causes the fans to ramp up after launching the program. For me, in most scenarios with almost no load, fans ramp up to 5k-6k rpm.
Similar programs like Logic, Reaper, Maschine etc. aren't as bad and even under moderate to heavy load reach only 4.5k rpm. I've been running heavy sessions on my laptop since 2013 and this is the first time fan noise has started becoming a problem for me. On the beta forums, a lot of other users have expressed similar problems including erratic CPU activity in Live. It seems to affect MBP with dedicated GPU's the most (old and new). It also doesn't seem to affect the other Mac lineups.
If anyone here runs Live and has an eGPU, I wanted to check if running an external GPU offsets the fans from ramping up in Live? I was planning on switching to a Mac Mini, but if the eGPU solution works, I'd rather opt for that and get a bit more out of my MBP.
