So I recently got the non Neo versioned G9 over this past Black Friday sales, and just wanted to check if this might be a monitor issue or MBP issue. This morning, I have two windows open Firefox, and VDI, which within the VDI also has 2 windows open, so a total of 3 across the whole monitor. I noticed a slight shift/twitch of the whole monitor (all screens) maybe 2-3mm to the right and then back for just maybe half a second?, similar to how "glitches" are animated in shows/movies etc. I understand there were previously reported/document flickering issues but based on the youtube videos it doesn't appear to be the same tweak I'm experiencing

Additionally, my m1max usually runs around ~50C CPU/GPU temps, but yesterday with just firefox open and youtube playing it got up to 75C? I understand that's still relatively cool, but a 50% jump in temp just for youtube? (and it wasn't full screen...) Prior to this I had a m1PRO hooked up and my temps never were higher than ~60C even with youtube and multiple programs loaded

Anyone else experience any of this?

My suggestion will be to check the display cable + check your Mac behavior without Samsung Odyssey G9

I don't have such a display, surely there are some settings under display menu, maybe tinkering with refresh rate, mode, etc. could be helpful

Thanks, thinks I possibly narrowed down to cable or monitor... I open the macbook and started working off of that while screen was extended and the tweak kept glitching but not on the macbook screen. Which I guess it could still be the GPU... but less likely? I switched to HDMI port which greatly lowered the resolution, but then after a couple hours switched back to TP3 to DP and hasn't tweaked since. I'll keep monitoring it

I had to connect my G9 directly via TB to DP1.4 cable. If I utilized my dock I saw similar issues. Without the dock I can run at 120 hz 5120x1440 without issue.

Hm that’s odd, I’m currently directly connected via tb to dp1.4 (no dock)

This cable specifically

I’ve never heard of the brand so maybe it’s my cable..

My cord has similar specs, do you have 240hz turned on with the monitor? I have the local Dimming and Dynamic contrast turned off. I do have adaptive sync enabled.

Mess with the settings on the monitor.
I had to change the DisplayPort version in order for the flickering to go away.

I noticed the glitching when using an Insignia cable I got from BB but when I moved the above Maxonar cable, glitching went away on my G9. The DP setting on the G9 was auto-set to 1.4.
