my girlfriend is dying to see it, and i really don't think its gonna be that great.

anyone see it yet to persuade me the other way?

It was alright...Its a Michael Mann Film...so you know its a very serious movie with some serious gun fights...it's worth it.

Note: I thought it was porn...the chick from 28 days later is hot

If you're worried that it's going to be like the TV show, don't. It only has the title and character names in common. I'm a fan of Michael Mann, and while it's certainly not his best film, it's not bad either. I'm sure I would have liked it even more if I was not sitting beside someone who was not aware of their odour...:(

I liked it. It was clearly a Mann movie. The only thing I didn't like was the romantic scenes. Should have substituted more violence instead. Good movie though.

I was saying the same thing to my friend....I came for a Mann movie...bang bang drama but instead it got real romantic at times.

I really liked Heat and Collateral. Heat had a bit of a love interest.

Is there any reason for me to avoid Miami Vice? I thought the trailer looked alright. Although I'm not a big fan of Colin Farrell.

Terrrible film. Without giving much away, Farrell could have been replaced with a cardboard cutout of himself with a cell phone behind the moustache and literally phoned in an identical performance. He didn't even bother to hide his accent at points. Foxx didn't seem to know what to do with his character, maybe because there was no real development in the script for anyone. I didn't give a **** about any of these people and ended up hoping they all died in the end so there'd be no sequel.

It was almost like they shot 5 hours of film without even having a finished and cohesive script and edited it down to 2.5 hoping they could make sense of it after the fact. Either that or they ran out of money, never finished shooting and had to throw in all 2 hours and 29 minutes to try to salvage what little story there was.

The only reason I didn't walk out was because I was with friends and didn't drive myself to the theatre.

all style, no substance

MAYBE worth a matinee price ticket, definitely not full price...

only reason i would see it is because i am from south fla and visit miami quite frequently (sports, clubs, bars, beach, etc) so i would feel some sort of connection to the film because of the location

What happened...???

Disappointed with this...Mann directing it was one of the reasons why I wanted to watch it...!!!

Not sure how describe it...just kept going non stop...dragged/felt lost...I don't know...!!!

Fearing lack of script in this ...

I really LOVE the TV series. It was forward thinking 100x better than Night Rider, 50x better than the A-Team, and The Fall Guy and others like it werent a consideration.

I'm afraid this is more like the TV episodes of just massive garbage. Although hoping it was like the 2hr season beginning or pilot shows that also had Phil Collins in the show. btw, is that on DVD?!

I went to see the movie with some co-workers last night. The movie tends to drag on, mostly because of the romance scenes. Aside from that, it wasn't bad; it had its moments. Not great either, though.

I think Miami is shown about 5 times in the whole movie. But if you happen to also feel a connection to Havana, Colombia, Haiti and Paraguay as well as the ocean, this movie may be what you're looking for.
