Are you on safari? Thats happened to me on safari a few times, probably because it isn't rendering the page properly.

I had that problem on 10.5.4 and earlier. It was a big graphics glitch that was fixed with 10.5.5.

Run Software Update and upgrade to 10.5.5.

Yeah clipping is related with driver issues.
