Hello all - I bought another PowerMac G5 on ebay thinking it was a Quad. Seller had no details but I saw the plastic strip on the back, and the square C19 power plug. Well, turns out all the late 2005 models had that special plug, not just the quad, so now I have a dual core 2 GHz that I really don't have a use for. The case is in good condition though.

I was thinking about upgrading the CPU to the DC 2.3 GHz which should put it close to my current dual CPU 2.5 machine. Would happily exchange the slight clock speed reduction for PCIe. Found posts on here saying the upgrade is plug and play on the later machines. Anyone have a 2.3 DC CPU they would be willing to part with?

Really, my preference is now to see if I can find a Quad logic board complete with CPUs and just do a full conversion. Maybe even a fully functioning quad tower that's in bad shape cosmetically? Let me know what you have!

I have a 2.3 DC that another member sent me a few years back. It arrived with bent handles and attempts to straighten them resulted in the Mac not turning on. It was fully functional when the member shipped it. I found another 2.3 DC on a craigslist ad and swapped out the ram and the ramp card/WiFi/BT module.

You can have the entire thing if you want (the one with the warped case I mean), it's been sitting as a parts Mac, but I haven't needed it. Just pay shipping. I won't ship until after Christmas though. Don't know how long you want to wait.

Thanks eyoungren! I probably don't need all the other parts (would end up as e-waste as I don't have the space either). I'd be interested in the CPU/cooler assembly, can pay you for your time to remove it if that helps, plus postage.

Nah, no worries. I'll just pull the board/CPU/heatsink as one unit. I've done that with a 1.8Ghz G5 (I replaced the LB/CPUs as one unit), so be interesting to go through the process here.

Again, no ship until after Christmas though. I'll contact you after then as to the cost of shipping it.
