I just bought my girlfriend a PS3 slim for her birthday. The primary use of the system was to stream movies to it from her computer.

So far it hasn't worked. While streaming we get "A Network Error has occurred" message in the upper right corner constantly and then the video will suddenly stop playing and display that same message for no reason.

Setup:
Plastic MacBook
Dlink DIR-655 router
MacBook to router to PS3 all wired
Tried using both MediaLink and PS3 Media Server

Anyone have these problems or has solved them?

I use PS3 Media Server and TVersity, they seem to be able to play anything. I also have a EMC NAS that has DLNA support, it can stream fine too. I would check the file, or you may need a better codec pack. The CCCP codec pack seems to be what everyone uses, works great for me too.
