Anyone successfully filed down the bumper dock connector?

I'm having some compatability issues (who isn't) with the bumper and external dock connecting cables.

Has anyone successfully filed the dock opening on the bumper so that other cables will fit? By successful of course I mean filed it so that the bumper still looks good and fits the phone!

Im in the same boat. If anything I am going to dremel the plastic around the cable and leave the bumper as is.

I dont think hacking up the bumper will end up looking good at all and the holes for the speakers are pretty close to the dock opening.
