iPod touch Anyone synching their IPT5 within iTunes with older OS ?

I'm using Leopard 10.5.8... wondering if anyone has been able to synch their new IPT5 (within iTunes) with an older OS than the ones mentioned on the Specs sheet of the new iPod (OSx 10.6.8 or later).

Reading on the web it seems you need OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and iTunes 10.7 to sync with iOS 6. Earlier software won’t do it. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4431513?start=0&tstart=0
