Apple this round very smartly went to 16/64/128 instead of 32/64/128. With this strategy, they kept the $299 price point folks at $299 and only some of the $399 folks went down to $299 as the $399 group also includes folks who always want the maximum capacity. So for the next round of storage bumps, do y’all think Apple will just double the 128 to 256 and leave 16 and 64 as is? I’d imagine such a move would maybe even convince a few folks at the $299 price point to move up to the $399 price point.

I just hope they stop selling the 16GB phones with the 6S - although it's enough for a small amount of people, with the size of iOS upgrades these days it's really quite ridiculous especially when you take into account the price of NAND storage in the quantities Apple order it in. The 8GB iPhone 5c really takes the mickey.

I think 64/128 would be a viable alternative, and would reduce the SKUs Apple have to manage - maybe another colour could be added instead?

Probably won't change for a very long time. 128GB on my 6 was insane. Had around 75GB free. Theoretically data will become cheaper and more efficient so streaming options will continue to lessen the need for tons of on board storage.

For the 6s, we'll see the same storage configuration 16/64/128. At best, we might get 32/64/128, but I think it is a long shot.

I hope the free phone next year won't have 8GB.

A family member got the 8GB 5C over the holidays. The quality of the phone blew me away. It's a terrific phone, and the photo feature to store only down-res pictures on the phone freed up some space for them.

However, in the end, despite it working now, they are doing a return in case they ever need a 1GB app or 2GB app, they don't want to be caught out.

I have 128 GB it is more than enough for me. I can't see needing more anytime soon, but you never know I guess.

Most of the space of my phone that it used, about 65 GB, a huge chunk 30 GB is music. The truth is, why do I really need to carry 30 GB in music? There are streaming services, plus iTunes in the cloud, etc. etc.

128GB seems to have some future room for me right now.

16 is probably ok for the average joe. 64 should cover 90 percent of people at least.

The 8GB is funny.
