Whats does the future hold for the AirTag?

This is nothing but raw speculation but I get this feeling like Apple is going to come out and say something like "We regret the AirTag. Going forward, FindMy will only support iDevices with FindMy built in, there will be no more support for AirTags or 3rd-party trackers." or some variation of that, maybe saying they'll still support the ones in service until the battery needs to be changed or until some arbitrary deadline. IMO the AirTag is one of the best Cook-era products along with Apple Silicon and AirPods Pro so I would hate to not see a successor. Hopefully AirTag 2 is thinner than the current version so it fits in a wallet easily.
