The subject line kind of says it all. All the Mac OS X developmental codenames were just that. Steve happened to like Jaguar and Panther and so called final OS that as well. Who's to say Tiger will really be "Tiger"?

Personally I don't think "Tiger" has the same ring to it as Panther or Jaguar.

I think "Tiger" has a much better ring to it than Panther and Jaguar.

Mac OS 10.4 will be called Tiger.

10.4 will be an awesome and powerful OS and the name fits its changes very well.

Maybe it will be this :D

Tiger's a pretty weak name for an OS. Better than Lion, but Panther is a better name, as was Jaguar. Cheetah and Puma were a little weak though - explains why they were publicly called OS X and 10.1 respectively.

Either way, 10.4 be called Tiger - no question.

Preference for 10.5 - Cougar. That's a great name.

tigger is great.... bottoms are made of rubber, tails made of springs....

shakespeare said it best - "what is in a name?"

We've been through the 10.5 thing before... it's definitely going to be 10.5 Cougar.

Apple says so
http://www.apple.com/macosx/

Apple is unlikely to publish the name on their site and then change the name prior to launch.

10.6 "Mackerel Tabby"

Ok getting ahead of ourselves here.....

Infact what would be a good idea..is every small upgrade eg. 10.4.1 Could be called ...Kitty 1, 2 etc.... :D

Tiger doesnt seem to have the edge to it that Panther did, but i think its a good name because it doesnt seem so 'out there' as maybe Jaguar and Panther were....

but what the hell do i know?

To increase market share, Apple should name Mac OS XI after porn stars. I elect to call Mac OS XI 11.0.0 "Jenna Jameson"

I like the theme naming Apple been using they are using big cat names for their OS.

I like using themes to name stuff makes it easier to keep track off. Come on my computer network followers a start trek name theme. Fedration is the work group the route is DS9 (every router will have a diffent statoin name) and the computers have Fedration ship names.
