So.. not that I could afford to do this.
and it's probably stupid.
but in theory.

if the 27" imac has 2 thunderbolt ports
and you can daisy chain 2 thunderbolt displays off one port

could you then in face run 4 external displays off an imac giving you a total of 5 27" monitors?"

(along with 12 extra USB ports, 4 extra fw800, and 4 extra LAN ports.........)

someone in a shop please try this!

Suppose someone could use five 27" iMacs (four as displays only) :)

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that the gfx card in the iMac could only support 2 extra monitors and itself but maybe thats just for extended desktops and it would just duplicate one of them on the others? i am pretty sure it couldn't extend the desktop to 4 displays and itself the gfx card just can't support them...Not trying to rain on your parade i think it would be awesome for someone to try that I'm just saying i don't think its possible, but whoever trys it, more power to ya :)
