Like the title says — has anyone tried using their iPad as a book scanner? I want to scan in some material from my collection, mostly bits from large heavy hardcovers. (Aging eyes are no fun.) A dedicated book scanner setup would cost as much as a base iPad Pro M4, which would obviously have other uses. I know iOS has document scanner functionality, but does it have any corrections for the curvature of pages, reflection off of glossy pages, etc.? Alternatively, is there another app that might work?

If it was me, I'd try the native iPad scanning for free and then try third-party apps if you hit on any limitations you think another app might solve.

Honestly, the main thing I'd recommend is controlling your lighting so it's soft and even, and avoiding shadows and hotspots. Once you have that set, it should all be easier.

On iPhone, I've had very good luck with Genius Scan, but the iOS/iPadOS scanner has gotten a ton better in recent years. None of the ones I've tried so far has curvature correction -- but unless it's really atrocious, in my experience you can get an acceptably legible result by adjusting the corners.
